Rheinland-Pfalz:
A federal state in the heart of Europe with an international airport Frankfurt-Hahn. Set within the stunning valleys of the river Rhine and lovely Moselle, providing wine, history, culture and scenery. Romerberg:
Romerberg is bordered by half-timbered houses (Fachwerkhauser) reconstructed after total destruction in 1945, including the former court chapel at Nikolaikirche (Church of St Nicholas). The main attraction is the red sandstone Römerwhich was Frankfurt's city hall built in 1405. The coronation of German emperors took place in the Kaisersaal (Emperor's Hall) on the upper floors. A fascinating collection of portraits of 52 emperors, from Charlemagne to Franz II, now hang on the walls.

Sankt Bartholomausdom (Cathedral of St Bartholomew):
German emperors were crowned in the Cathedral of St Bartholomew between 1562 and 1792 and thus the name Kaiserdom originated. The Gothic cathedral has a red sandstone façade and dominates the horizon. Having been rebuilt it still retains many original features and houses a large collection of historic artefacts.

Stadel Art Institute and Municipal Gallery: A collection of European painting from the 14th- to the 20th-centuries including many German masters such as Cranach, Holbein and Beckmann are displayed alongside Botticelli, Rembrandt and Rubens. Sculptures of the 19th and 20th century can be viewed in the Gallery and the Sculpture Garden.

Museum fur Moderne Kunst ( Museum of Modern Art ): A stunning building designed by Hans Hollein, the Musueum of Modern Art must count as one of the city's major attractions.It exhibits a superb collection of post-war art, predominantly by German and American artists.

Frankfurt Zoo: Frankfurt zoo is a very popular destination. Wildlife is displayed in a well thought out way on 30 acres of land. The highlight is the Grzimek Haus, where artificial darkness allows you to observe nocturnal animals going about their business.

Palmengarten (Palm Garden): The Palm Garden is a breathtaking collection of tropical plants and exotic birds. A perfect setting away from the noisy city center to relax and enjoy the occasional concert.

Goethe-Museum and Goethe-Haus: Goethe (1749-1832) was born and brought up in this house which has been restored to its former 18th-century glory. Visit the family music room, library, living room and Goethe's own puppet show and study. Next door, the Goethe-Museum displays German paintings and sculpture from the late Baroque period up to early Romanticism.
